NAIROBI & INDIANAPOLIS - TWO CITIES, DIFFERENT COUNTRIES, A
GLOBAL VILLAGE
Evelyn Mungai, Kenya’s Leading Businesswoman and Entrepreneur Inspires Business Professionals from around the Midwest
Indianapolis, IN: December 7, 2007 – Born in the rural village
of Cura, not far from Nairobi, Evelyn Mungai, Kenya’s leading
businesswoman and entrepreneur, will inspire business professionals
from around the Midwest at the National Association of Women
Business Owners (NAWBO-Indianapolis Chapter) 2007 Annual Awards and
Holiday Luncheon, Thursday, December 13 at the Indianapolis Marriott
Downtown from 10:30 A.M. to 1:30 P.M.
Evelyn Mungai will discuss how she has become a prominent leader
in Kenya and why our countries are part of a “global village.” Find
out how Mungai translates her tribal values into action while
successfully impacting business. She will share her triumphs and
lessons learned on her professional journey. At the luncheon,
attendees will discover the secrets to Mungai’s success; tap into
her source of limitless energy and aspirations; and witness first
hand, a woman driven by an entrepreneurial spirit and a “can do”
attitude.
Mungai established one of the first companies in Kenya to offer
recruitment services and pioneered the fashion design industry
through the establishment of Evelyn College of Design, which
celebrated its 30th Anniversary in 2006. She’s an accomplished
publisher, author, microfinance institution founder, and chairperson
for many organizations. Mungai is a champion for women’s economic,
business and professional empowerment. She is now also standing as a
member of Kenya’s parliament in the upcoming national elections.
Jannett Keesling, President of NAWBO states, “Evelyn’s
accomplishments are both astounding and an inspiration. She is a
living testament to the power of one; how a single person can truly
make a difference and impact the lives of thousands and change a
country’s culture and business fiber. With the evolution of
technology, women can connect globally, sharing our challenges and
triumphs.”
NAWBO’S Women Connecting Globally Holiday Luncheon will also host
a performance by the Kenyettá Dance Company which is an ensemble of
enthusiastic and dedicated dancers. Kenyettá Dance Company has
developed a repertoire that is engaging and very eclectic –
examining the power of the human spirit through strength and
agility.
