Pike Finance Students Visit New York City
Tours and Presentations Arranged at NY Stock Exchange &
Financial District Institutions
Indianapolis, IN: June 16, 2008 – On April 23 and 24,
senior Academy of Finance students Aisha Brown, Mychal Eagleson,
Lakeitra Hayes, Patrick Taggart, Henok Tecle, and Joshua Underwood
visited the financial district and business institutions in New York
City. Students were accompanied by Jeanne Burroughs, Academy
Facilitator, and Douglas Coats, Academy of Finance Director.
Company tours and staff presentations were arranged at J P Morgan
Chase Bank, Citrin Cooperman & Company LLP, and RSSM & Company LLP.
Students also toured the financial district in lower Manhattan
highlighting the Federal Reserve Bank, Museum of Finance, and the
New York Stock Exchange. Visits to Times Square and the Empire State
Building were also included in the two-day visit.
This trip was made possible through a grant received from
Citigroup, Inc. and the National Academy Foundation. Jim Vitou,
Regional Vice President of Primerica Financial Services, serves on
the Business and Information Technology Academy Advisory Board and
assisted with the approval of the grant.
The students had an excellent opportunity to experience
first-hand the financial district of New York City and to receive a
better understanding of the operation of financial institutions and
their importance to our economy. Josh Underwood stated, "Visiting
the Financial District of New York City really helped me to have a
better understanding of global economics.
